It’s not been a very impressive summer so far but at least the sun took it upon itself to shine all day on the 29th June for the school’s Summer Fayre and what an impressive turn out of people they had. People came along all day and a lovely amount of money was raised for the school so I would like to thank you all for your support.

Following the school fayre we had Sounds Imperial playing in the evening so it was a very successful day for the school and the Centre. Our fingers are firmly crossed for good weather for our first ever vintage day on Sunday 18th August where there will displays of all sorts of vehicles, tractors, motorbikes and cars, and many stalls including craft and food stands. Tickets can be purchased online at a very reasonable price of £5.00 for adult’s and under 16’s are free to enter. There will be a vintage bus giving free rides throughout the day. For those of you who were disappointed that the Rock and Roll bingo didn’t take place this will be rearranged but we had to postpone due to the Euro’s. And what a wonderful amount of people came to the Centre to support England in all their matches, the bar staff worked so hard and so did the burger vans.

Thank you all for making the evenings so memorable. Now to support the ladies team in the 2025 Euro’s. There will be a charity motorbike show at the Centre on Saturday 21st September for those of you who prefer two wheels rather than four please come along and check it out. There will be live music in the bar in the evening so sounds like fun, keep you eyes on the website for more details.

We are holding a Swingin Autumn Ball on the 19th October with the brilliant Pavilion Big Band, who now practice at the club on a Thursday evening. Tickets for this are now on our website at £10.00 per person, with a discount available for bookings of 10 or more people.

We hope to see you there. For those of you who came along to the centre AGM in July you will know our finances are looking pretty good at the moment but, as always something always comes along to spoil things, this time it’s the boiler for the swimming pool which needs replacing!! Thanks for all your support this is something we can afford to do, and hope by the time you read this the work will be complete.

We welcome our new committee member Fiona Worner who is setting up a group of people to carry out maintenance at the centre on a monthly basis which is great. If you wish to get involved please give her a call. We are all working hard to try to bring new things to the centre and would love to hear from the young people of the village to know what would appeal to them, we want to encourage people of all ages so any ideas you may have we would love to hear from you.

Enjoy the rest of the summer, fingers crossed we get a little more sunshine to set us up for winter.

Judy Fisher
